Addy Rebmann has always had intentions of playing college volleyball since she was a kid. On Monday, she made those dreams a reality.

Rebmann, a three-time first-team All-Ozark Conference and All-District player announced her commitment to Pittsburg State University on X (formerly known as Twitter) to continue her academic and athletic career.

“I knew Pitt State was home the moment I stepped on campus,” said Rebmann. “The culture there and the standard for athletics is unlike anywhere else. Championships are the expectation for every sport. I felt wanted, and like I was a priority during the whole recruiting process, which was something that was different from what I went through with some other schools.

“The decision was an easy one, even though I waited a while. I just love how outstanding the athletics program is at Pitt and how much community support every sport receives.”

She told Jacket Nation Sports that she started connecting with Pitt State back in 5th grade.

“Pitt State didn’t officially start recruiting me until June of my sophomore year last summer,” she explained. “However, there was a connection going back to when I was in 5th grade. They ran a camp here at LHS for our volleyball team when I was going into middle school, and one of their coaches really seemed to like me and even had me stay for the high school session of that camp, so I have had them in my mind since then. Even though they weren’t legally allowed to say anything, it was cool to know I was on their radar even from back then.”

Rebmann chose the Gorillas (10-19 in 2023) over UMKC but also held offers and interest from schools such as Kansas State, UMKC, the University of Alabama—Birmingham, Vanderbilt, Georgia, and Drury.

“One thing I learned was that I definitely wanted to stay closer to home, which if you had asked me that my freshman year, I would’ve said the exact opposite,” Rebmann said.

Without her support system, Rebmann isn’t sure she would be in this situation, and she is grateful for their commitment over the years.

“My biggest influences have, of course, been my mom and dad,” she stated. “They have helped to answer every question, ease every worry, pick me up after every failure, and celebrate every success. He may not know it, but my brother, Jake, has also influenced me a lot, and he’s the hardest worker I know. I hope that maybe we can be back in the same school again in college. My teammates at LHS and my club team, CSDP, have all been key in shaping me into the player and person I am. I especially want to thank them for all of the great memories.

“I want to thank Coach Collins for being so active in my recruiting process, always checking up on me, and never letting me settle. I also want to thank my CSDP coaches: Lori, Kailey, Amy, and Brittany. They have been a huge part of my development. Whether it be as a player or a person, they have all made me better. All of my friends and teachers at LHS deserve a huge thank you also.”

Yellowjacket fans can still see Rebmann in action this upcoming fall for her senior volleyball season. She will look to continue her success as the team leader in kills the last three years and win a second district championship before she heads off to college.
